Is Radiesse the Treatment for you?

If you’ve been considering trying out the popular Radiesse treatment to improve the look of your skin, you’ll want to read on. In this post, we’ll talk about what Radiesse is, how it works, and who makes a good candidate for the procedure. By the time you finish reading, you’ll have a good idea of whether or not this treatment is right for you. So let’s get started!

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a biostimulator that encourages the body to produce new collagen. It is made from calcium hydroxylapatite, a substance that is found naturally in the body. When injected into the skin, Radiesse helps to improve skin elasticity, thickens the dermis, and, depending on the concentration used, adds volume. Radiesse is typically injected into the skin of the neck, but it can also be injected into the hands to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Results typically last for one year or more. Most common injection sites include the neck, arms, knees, hands, and butt.

What does Radiesse do?

Radiesse treatment is very similar to other dermal fillers. The treatment itself is relatively quick and easy. First, the area to be treated is cleansed and numbed with a topical numbing cream. Then, Radiesse is injected into the skin using a cannula. The Radiesse injection is made up of calcium hydroxyapatite in a gel carrier. Once it has been injected, the calcium hydroxyapatite left behind will begin to work to smooth out wrinkles and give the skin a more youthful appearance by stimulating your body to produce more collagen. Radiesse is a safe and effective way to reduce the signs of aging, and it provides long-lasting results that can help you look your best.

What are the risks of Radiesse?

The risks of radiesse are similar to other hyaluronic acid fillers. The most common issues people have with this treatment include swelling, bruising and redness at the injection site. If you are familiar with dermal filler or other treatments, you know this is common and will subside in a few days. My recommendation is that you plan ahead and schedule your appointment at least two weeks before any special events to allow for the swelling and bruising.

What is the difference between Sculptra and Radiesse?

Sculptra and Radiesse are both biostimulators that help to rebuild collagen, so the two treatments can easily be confused. Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid, while Radiesse is made from calcium hydroxylapatite. Both substances are biocompatible, meaning they are safe to inject into the skin.

Sculptra works by stimulating the body’s collagen production. The body slowly breaks it down over time, so results may last for two years or more. Radiesse works by immediately filling in wrinkles and folds. It is eventually absorbed by the body, so results typically last for six to twelve months. Because of its longer-lasting effects, Sculptra is often considered a better choice for correcting deeper wrinkles and folds. However, Radiesse may be a better choice for those who want immediate results with minimal downtime.

Why I Prefer Radiesse in the Neck

As we age, our skin loses collagen and elasticity, which causes wrinkles and sagging. This is especially noticeable in the neck area, where the skin is thinner, and there is less support. We’ve often forgotten to protect our neck from sun damage over the years which contributes to more severe damage. There are several treatments available to address this problem, but I prefer Hyper Dilute Radiesse. This treatment works so well for the neck area because it stimulates your body to produce more collagen. This results in the thin, crepey skin on your neck becoming smoother and tighter when the skin gets thicker. I have seen amazing results with my patients using Radiesse to treat their concerns with aging in the neck.

Am I a good candidate for Radiesse?

If you are considering Radiesse treatments, you may be wondering if you are a good candidate for it. In general, Radiesse is most effective for people who have mild to moderate wrinkles or loss of elasticity of their neck, arms, knees, hands, or would like to add volume to their butt.
