The easy yet effective skin routine that’ll keep all skin types glowing.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with skincare choices when you’re constantly bombarded with different products that all claim to be the “be-all-end-all” of skin solutions. The truth is, there’s not one secret product that’ll solve all your skin woes – the real secret to your best skin can actually be found in a simple, easy-to-follow skincare routine. Keep reading to learn more!
1. Double Cleansing
Double Cleansing is the essential first step in any skincare regimen. This two-step method involves strategically cleansing your face twice – first with an oil-based cleanser, and then with a water-based cleanser. This ensures your skin is perfectly clean and ready to be a “blank canvas” for your skincare routine.
Step 1: Cleanse skin with an oil-based cleanser.
This step breaks down traces of dirt, excess oils, makeup, SPF, and other products. Think of this as your initial cleanse to remove anything on the surface of your skin, which helps prepare your skin for Step 2.
Step 2: Cleanse skin with a water-based cleanser.
During Step 2, use a water-based cleanser to thoroughly cleanse deep within your pores. This will give you a smooth, clean surface for product application.
What Are the Best Double Cleansing Products?
Step 1: Oil-Based Cleanser – ISDIN Essential Cleansing Oil
ISDIN’s Essential Cleansing Oil is my go-to oil Step 1 cleanser to remove makeup, oil, sunscreen, and non-visible debris from my face.
Mediterranean Extra Virgin Olive Oil moisturizes skin by reducing water loss, infuses skin with antioxidant protection, and protects against premature aging.
Sunflower Oil contains omegas 6 and 9, which strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier and lock in hydration.
Clary Sage helps soothe skin and promotes a more even skin tone.
Step 2: Water-Based Cleanser – Revision Gentle Foaming Cleanser
Revision’s Gentle Foaming Cleanser is a perfect Step 2 cleanser for virtually all skin types. This cleanser lathers into a velvety smooth foam for a luxurious cleansing experience.
Allantoin moisturizes, soothes, and helps rejuvenate skin cells and improve skin texture by gently exfoliating.
Chamomile calms dry, irritated skin, alleviates redness, and provides antioxidant benefits.
Aloe Vera hydrates, cools, soothes, and promotes healing.
2. Vitamin C
Vitamin C is step two of our Simple Skincare Regimen. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect your skin cells from oxidation caused by free radicals. Free radicals are harmful molecules that attempt to destroy healthy cells in a search for missing electrons. Without antioxidant protection, free radicals can cause severe damage to healthy skin cells by stealing their electrons, resulting in hyperpigmentation, dehydration, and premature aging.
Vitamin C also works synergistically with your SPF to provide ultimate UV-ray protection, and may also be used at night to support your body’s cellular renewal process.
What’s the Best Vitamin C Product?
Revision’s C+ Correcting Complex is the perfect second step in your skincare routine, no matter what skin type you have. This antioxidant blend promotes a more radiant, youthful appearance by supporting your skin’s natural production of vitamins C and E.
Vitamin C works synergistically with your SPF to protect skin from UV ray damage while brightening, reducing hyperpigmentation, and promoting new collagen production.
MelaPATH® Technology is Revision’s patent-pending antioxidant elixir that provides ultimate brightening, rejuvenating, and nourishing properties to aging and/or photodamaged skin.
Prebiotic Technology helps support skin’s delicate microbiome to promote balance and cell renewal.
How to Use:
Use C+ Correcting Serum morning and evening, after cleansing and before moisturizing. Dispense one pump into your hand, and apply to your entire face, avoiding the eye area. Always pair with an SPF (see below) in the morning for optimal UV protection.
3. SPF (AM) or Retinol (PM)
The third step of your Simple Skincare Regimen will differ depending on the time of day. During the morning, your final application before makeup should be SPF. In the evening, the final product you’ll want to apply is retinol (or a retinol alternative if you have very sensitive skin).
What’s the Best SPF?
ISDIN’s Eryfotona Ageless SPF 50 is a lightweight, tinted mineral (aka physical) sunscreen that repairs existing sun damage, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and is suitable for all skin types. Eryfotona’s tint is versatile and is appropriate for virtually all skin tones, and main ingredient Zinc Oxide is my ultimate fav when it comes to sensitive-skin-safe sunscreen ingredients.
Zinc Oxide is found in physical SPFs, which are less irritating when compared to chemical SPFs. Zinc oxide provides ultimate protection from UV rays, has antibacterial properties, helps reduce blemishes and acne, and soothes skin. Eryfotona contains 10.7% zinc oxide for a high level of sun protection.
DNA Repairsomes are photolyase enzymes derived from plankton. Photolyase enzymes help repair photodamage by removing damaged DNA, promoting healthier, more youthful-looking skin.
Peptide Q10 helps keep skin cells healthy and fights early signs of photoaging.
What’s the Best Retinol?
Alastin’s Renewal Retinol is available in two formulas (.25 or .5), depending on your retinol tolerance. Renewal Retinol is the ultimate retinol plus hydrator to ensure you get all the benefits of retinol (like smoother texture, brighter and more radiant tone, and less-visible fine lines and wrinkles) without irritation or excessive dryness.
Retinol is delivered more efficiently using Alastin’s unique “lipid-encapsulated” retinol formulation. This means you’ll experience revived, refreshed skin as your body produces more collagen.
Silver Mushroom supports your body’s natural hyaluronic acid (HA) levels with 400 times more hydration power than hyaluronic acid itself! Silver Mushroom particles are smaller than HA particles, and are more effective at deeply penetrating the skin to boost hydration.
Oat Extract helps soothe and nourish sensitive skin types, helping those who aren’t used to retinol develop a tolerance.
What’s the Best Retinol Alternative?
DefenAge’s 24/7 Barrier Balance Cream is one of my ultimate recommendations for retinol alternatives. If your skin is super sensitive and you’re wary of trying retinol, a retinol alternative like Barrier Balance Cream is a great way to start. Barrier Balance Cream contains Age-Repair Defensins, natural cell-renewing molecules which are less irritating to skin and may even be more effective than retinol.
Age-Repair Defensins® are DefenAge’s Exclusive powerhouse ingredients. These natural molecules signal the body to create new skin cells by activating cellular reserves. DefenAge’s Defensins are identical to human defensins made via bio-synthesis, making them the ultimate rejuvenators!
Niacinamide is a brightening ingredient that helps restore skin’s natural moisture barrier, soothe, firm, and reduce hyperpigmentation. Niacinamide can also treat acne, and has antioxidant properties to defend skin against free radicals.
Hyaluronic Acid is an excellent hydrating ingredient known for its ability to subtly plump and firm skin, helping restore youthfulness and balance moisture levels.
Sea Whip is harvested from soft coral and is known for its intensively soothing properties, making it an excellent ingredient for menopause-related skin irritation or dryness.
Investing in these proven products will boost your skin’s luminosity and youthfulness – with commitment to your daily skin routine, you’ll see visible results in only a few weeks. If you have more questions about skincare, visit The Atlanta Injectors for more tips and guidance.
