What Kind of Cosmetic Treatments Should I Prioritize in the Summer?

Summer’s here – and that means more time outside in the sunshine! This also means increased UV ray exposure makes your skin more vulnerable. However, with a little TLC, you can take the best care of your skin and avoid UV-ray-induced harm! This summer, let’s prioritize cosmetic treatments and products that keep the overall health of your skin in mind.

So, what cosmetic skin procedures should you schedule this summer? Keep reading for my favorite summertime skin treatments and expertly-curated products to pair along.

Sculptra and Radiesse (Biostimulatory Fillers)

Sculptra

Sculptra is an FDA-approved bio-stimulatory injectable filler that helps gradually replace collagen (the protein in the body responsible for skin elasticity) that’s lost as we age. Over time, this collagen synthesis helps restore facial volume and boost the skin’s overall radiance.

What is Sculptra made of?

Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic substance that stimulates the body’s collagen production.

During Sculptra treatment, we’ll inject Sculptra into the dermis layer of your skin, where collagen is produced. Tiny PLLA beads disperse into the areas where wrinkles are located. As the beads naturally dissolve over time, your body produces new collagen in its place. This process gradually reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, restoring facial volume and improving skin quality.

How many Sculptra treatments will I need to see results?

Note that the best Sculptra results are achieved over a series of treatments. The results obtained over multiple treatments will emerge gradually and last up to 2 years.

Radiesse

Radiesse is another FDA-approved biostimulatory filler that helps your body create new collagen. Radiesse differs from Sculptra because it creates a gel scaffold matrix that stimulates collagen and elastin production. As the gel matrix breaks down over time, new collagen and elastin gradually form, helping smooth lines and wrinkles and rejuvenate skin.

What is Radiesse made of?

Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), a biocompatible substance that stimulates your body’s own collagen production.

Upon injection, Radiesse will provide a volumizing effect and create a gel scaffold within your skin, which works over time to stimulate new collagen and elastin. As the gel scaffold continues to stimulate regeneration, skin will appear more youthful, volumized, and renewed

How many Radiesse treatments will I need to see results?

Because every patient is different, some patients may require more than one appointment to reach their desired results. Once desired results are attained, they can last up to 18+ months.

Daxxify

Daxxify is a new neurotoxin designed to help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Like other neurotoxins, such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, Daxi creates a smoothing effect by relaxing the facial muscles that create wrinkles.

The difference between Daxi and other toxins is that Daxi is powered by a peptide, which accounts for its ability to provide significantly longer-lasting results versus other products. Daxxify can treat unwanted lines and wrinkles for 6+ months! This means fewer office visits for patients who can now enjoy the effects of tox treatment for longer than ever.

Daxi’s innovative peptide technology also sets the newest toxin apart in another revolutionary way: it contains no human or animal byproducts. This makes Daxi the first and, currently, the only vegan neurotoxin on the market.

Daxxify is available now at Cult Aesthetics office in Atlanta, GA.

Dermal Fillers

Last but not least on my list of best summer skin procedures is dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a humectant naturally found in the body. When injected into the dermis, HA provides volume, shape, and structure, leading to a more youthful, balanced appearance.

We can use dermal filler to treat a variety of areas, including:

  • Temples
  • Cheeks
  • Undereye Area
  • Midface
  • Nasolabial Folds
  • Lips
  • Jawline
  • Chin

Results from dermal fillers are immediate, but note that bruising and swelling may occur post-procedure. Some patients may require multiple treatment sessions to achieve the best results. Results from dermal fillers can last up to 12 months.
